Does McAfee have any public repositories that DO NOT distribute the Engine update? Per http://kc.mcafee.com/corporate/index?page=content&id=KB51159 the autoupdate repository list indicates that NAIHttp does include the engine, does this mean the default NAIFtp present in the product using ftp.nai.com/CommonUpdater does not have the engine?
What will happen next week for stand alone VSE 8.7i computers that attempt to update automatically WITHOUT VSE 8.7i Patch 5 Hotfix 777352 installed? I anticipate a lot of problems with the 5600 push for unmanaged environments, I suggest that McAfee places a 5600 stand alone engine download for x86 and x64 BEFORE the automatic push, otherwise I hope your tech support staff is ready for a lot of calls next week. A version with the 5600 engine AND patch 5 hotfix 777352 would be very helpful as well.
I also realize the SDATs will be discontinued, but there is no mention of this in the daily readme.txt or indication at the download page at http://www.mcafee.com/apps/downloads/security-updates/security-updates.aspx . When disconinued, will the last SuperDAT with the 5400 engine rermain available for download, even though the DAT part will be obselete?

Actually when I reviewed the document today it was last updated 7-22-2013 which indicated that both the HTTP and FTP sites would contain the 5600 engine.
On two XP SP3 systems running VSE 8.7i Patch 5 with manditory hotfix HF777352 installed and system rebooted, I'm able to reproduce the error 'File V2engdet.mcs is corrupt' every time the Autoupdate process is run, using the public McAfee update servers. Both systems successfully updated from the 5400 to 5600 engine and from DAT 7145 to 7146 earlier today, and both systems have been rebooted after today's new engine and DAT were installed. Both systems were rebooted earlier today running the 5400 and DAT 7145, and neither system are low on disk space.
Since all of my stand alone systems run Autoupdate every 2 hours, how much bandwitdth is the V2engdet.mcs re-downloading going to take, and will this error be resolved with Thu DAT 7147? Is this a soft error or more critical error that may affect VSE performace?
Other XP SP3 systems already running engine 5600 on VSE 8.8 Patch 2 are not encountering the 'File V2engdet.mcs is corrupt' with today's 7146 DAT.
Also XP SP3 systems with Engine 5400 and Autoupdate configured to NOT update the engine succesfully updated today to DAT 7146 without the error message posted above.

Try downloading the latest XDat file and running it with the /f parameter. Reboot. Then try the update manually.
Hopefully this rewrites a new V2engdet.msc file and corrects the error message.
Same here. Running 8.5 and 8.7 . About 20% of PCs not taking new engine.
Even tried upgrading 2 nearly identical PCs that were on 8.5 to 8.7 . PC #1 had the engine update issue, went to 8.7 all was fine. PC #2 was fine, but due for an upgrade to 8.7 too. Once on 8.7 it got the engine problem.
Noticed that the the engines available here, http://www.mcafee.com/apps/downloads/security_updates/engines.asp Are all 5300, expect the "EPO only" versions.
We are not EPO, but plan to test with some of these soon.

I recently read: "OnJuly 24, 2013, VirusScan Enterprise and other McAfee Enterprise products that use the 5400 Engine will AutoUpdate to the 5600 Engine as part of the standardDAT update. The DAT update on this day will include an additional ~3.5MB of data due to the 5600 Engine binary." Does this mean that the larger daily DAT file that includes the new VSE 5600 scan engine will only be for one day and that on July 25, 2013 the "normal" daily DAT file will be available without the new scan engine? Thanks fo rthe reply. I contacted McAfee and they said that not having an engine in the branch will not affect the machines.

We have 2 servers which is running with VirusScan Enterprise + AntiSpyware Enterprise 8.8 Engine Version 5400 for storage. Those servers are in unmanaged from ePO. Till Yesterday we updated DAT file using Sdat.exe manually.But Unfortunately from today It has stopped by Mcafee.
We have plan to convert unmanaged to managed with next cycle window.Mean while I have below questions
1.Shall I Install 7146xdat.exe instead of SDAT on locally to the Net App Storage servers for running DAT up-to-date.
2.Is that reboot require after installation?
3.7146xdat.exe is compatible with Engine Version 5400 which is currently running to the NAS server.

I recently read: "OnJuly 24, 2013, VirusScan Enterprise and other McAfee Enterprise products that use the 5400 Engine will AutoUpdate to the 5600 Engine as part of the standardDAT update. The DAT update on this day will include an additional ~3.5MB of data due to the 5600 Engine binary." Does this mean that the larger daily DAT file that includes the new VSE 5600 scan engine will only be for one day and that on July 25, 2013 the "normal" daily DAT file will be available without the new scan engine? Thanks fo rthe reply. I contacted McAfee and they said that not having an engine in the branch will not affect the machines.
